A LOCAL man told a court yesterday he didn't realize he was doing anything
illegal when he bought and sold toy guns. But the court heard that some were
capable of being fired and causing injury. Zhang Kun, 31, was charged
with trading guns illegally by prosecutors from the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate
Prosecutors' Office. "I didn't know it could go against the law,"
said Zhang, who admitted the charge. "I thought these guns were just
toys." Prosecutors said he bought toy guns from Shenzhen, Guangdong
Province. Last July, police seized 24 guns at a warehouse on Wukang Road. Six
were judged to have been capable of causing injury. Prosecutors
suggested a minimum sentence of 10 years to Zhang. The Shanghai No. 2
Intermediate People's Court is to announce its verdict at a later
date. |
